This privacy policy has been compiled to better serve those concerned with how Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is being used by SkillsDB. In this policy, we lay out what data is collected and why, how that data is handled and rights to that data. We promise we never sell your data: never have, never will. This policy applies to SkillsDB properties, currently included but not limited to the website, blog and/or application(s).
What personal information do we collect from visitors?
We may collect your name, email address, work information, and/or other relevant details.
When and how do we collect information?
We may gather and use information when you visit any of our properties, initiate a trial, complete a form, input data on our site(s), and/or when your employer uploads your data in the following ways to:
- Enable the application to handle data
- Enhance our ability to assist you with customer service inquiries
- Dispatch regular emails about use of the product and/or website
- Distribute regular emails about updates and announcements
How do we protect your information?
Our website is scanned on a regular basis for security holes and known vulnerabilities in order to make your visit to our site as safe as possible.
Your personal information is contained behind secured networks and is only accessible by a limited number of persons who have special access rights to such systems, and are required to keep the information confidential. In addition, all sensitive/credit information you supply is encrypted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology.
We implement a variety of security measures users enter, submit, or accesses information to maintain the safety of personal information.
All financial transactions are processed through a third-party provider and are not stored or processed on our servers.
Do we use cookies?
Yes. You can choose to have your computer warn you each time a cookie is being sent, or you can choose to turn off all cookies. If you turn cookies off, some of the features that make your site experience more efficient may not function properly.
Third-party disclosure
We do not sell or trade your PII to any external parties. We may also disclose information when it is necessary to comply with legal requirements, enforce our site policies, or protect the rights, property, or safety of ourselves or others.

We do not include or offer third-party products or services.
We, along with third-party vendors such as Google use first-party cookies (such as the Google Analytics cookies) and third-party cookies (such as the DoubleClick cookie) or other third-party identifiers together to compile data regarding user interactions with ad impressions and other ad service functions as they relate to our website.
Opting out
Users can set preferences for how Google advertises to you using the Google Ad Settings page. Alternatively, you can opt out by visiting the Network Advertising Initiative Opt Out page or by using the Google Analytics Opt Out Browser add on.
COPPA (Children Online Privacy Protection Act)
When it comes to the collection of personal information from children under the age of 13 years old, the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) puts parents in control. The Federal Trade Commission, United States’ consumer protection agency, enforces the COPPA Rule, which spells out what operators of websites and online services must do to protect children’s privacy and safety online. We do not specifically market to children under the age of 13 years old.
When we access or share your information
Our default practice is to not access your information. The only times we’ll ever access or share your info are:
To provide products or services you’ve requested. We do use some third-party services to run our applications and only to the extent necessary process some or all of your personal information via these third parties. You can request the list of third-party services we use at support@skillsdb.com. Having subprocessors means we may use technology that accesses your data.
To investigate, prevent, or take action regarding restricted uses. Accessing a customer’s account when investigating potential abuse is a measure of last resort. We have an obligation to protect the privacy and safety of both our customers and the people reporting issues to us. We do our best to balance those responsibilities throughout the process. If we do discover you are using our products for a restricted purpose, we will report the incident to the appropriate authorities when required under applicable law.
SkillsDB Inc. is a U.S.-based company and all data infrastructure is located in the U.S.
If US law enforcement authorities have the necessary warrant, criminal subpoena, or court order requiring we share data, we have to comply. Otherwise, we flat-out reject requests from local and federal law enforcement when they seek data. And unless we’re legally prevented from it, we’ll always inform you when such requests are made. In the event a government authority outside the US approaches SkillDB with a request, our default stance is to refuse unless the US government compels us to.
If we get an informal request from any person, organization, or entity, we do not assist. If you are an account owner who wants to export data from their accounts, you can do so directly from the application.
If we are audited by a tax authority, we may be required to share billing-related information. If that happens, we only share the bare minimum needed such as billing addresses and tax exemption information.
Your rights with respect to your information
Currently some of the most privacy-forward regulations in place are the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”)in the US. SkillsDB recognizes all of the rights granted in these regulations to our European Clients, except as limited by applicable law. These rights include:
Right to Know
You have the right to know what personal information is collected, used, shared or sold. We outline both the categories and specific bits of data we collect, as well as how they are used, in this privacy policy.
Right of Access
This includes your right to access the personal information we gather about you, and your right to obtain information about the sharing, storage, security and processing of that information.
Right to Correction
You have the right to request correction of your personal information.
Right to Erasure / “To be Forgotten”
Often times you need to contact your employer or the admin for your system to exercise this right. This is your right to request, subject to certain limitations under applicable law, that your personal information be erased from our possession and, by extension, all of our service providers.
Right to Complain
You have the right to make a complaint regarding our handling of your personal information with the appropriate supervisory authority. To identify your specific authority or find out more about this right, EU individuals should go to https://edpb.europa.eu/about-edpb/board/members_en.
Right to Restrict Processing
This is your right to request restriction of how and why your personal information is used or processed, including opting out of sale of personal information. (Again: we never have and never will sell your personal data.)
Right to Object
You have the right, in certain situations, to object to how or why your personal information is processed.
Right to Portability
You have the right to receive the personal information we have about you and the right to transmit it to another party.
Right to not be subject to automated decision-making
You have the right to object and prevent any decision that could have a legal, or similarly significant, effect on you from being made solely based on automated processes. This right is limited, however, if the decision is necessary for performance of any contract between you and us, is allowed by applicable law, or is based on your explicit consent.

Location of site and data
Our products and other web properties are operated in the United States. If you are located in the European Union or elsewhere outside of the United States, please be aware that any information you provide to us will be transferred to and stored in the United States. By using our Site, participating in any of our services and/or providing us with your information, you consent to this transfer.
Information regarding the transfers of personal data outside the European Economic Area (EEA)
The SkillsDB main administrative offices are based in the U.S. and that’s where we process personal information collected through our website. When you provide personal information to us, we request your consent to transfer that personal information to the USA. The USA does not have an adequacy decision from the European Commission, which means that the Commission has not determined that the laws of the USA provide adequate protection for personal information. Although the laws of the USA do not provide legal protection that is equivalent to EU data protection laws, we safeguard your personal information by treating it in accordance with this GDPR Privacy Notice. We take appropriate steps to protect your privacy and implement reasonable security measures to protect your personal information in storage. We use secure transmission methods to collect personal data through our website.
